About ApplianceCost

ApplianceCost exists because the vampire appliances hide behind the famous ones.

The electricity bill is arithmetic nobody shows: watts × hours × rate. The famous appliances (fridge, AC) get the blame; the always-on electronics (routers, set-top boxes, gaming PCs in sleep) quietly accumulate. The calculator runs the formula for anything with a wattage.

Two tools: the per-device cost breakdown (day, month, year) and the upgrade comparison (old watts vs new watts — the LED and appliance-replacement decision).

We are educators, not a utility or an appliance brand. Nothing here sells electricity plans or fridges, and the math runs in your browser.

What makes ApplianceCost different

  • Your numbers never leave your browser. Every calculator on ApplianceCost runs entirely on your device. We never see, store, or transmit the figures you enter — there are no accounts and no server-side processing of your inputs.
  • Published methodology. Each calculator page explains the exact formula it uses and the assumptions behind it, so you can check our work or reproduce it in a spreadsheet.
  • Free, forever, without a paywall. ApplianceCost is supported by advertising. There is no premium tier, no email gate, and no upsell.

Independence

ApplianceCost is an independent educational project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government agency, lender, insurer, or the organizations whose formulas and public data we reference (such as typical appliance wattage data and utility billing practice). All trademarks and referenced standards belong to their respective owners.
