Educational information only

All content on ApplianceCost โ€” calculators, articles, tables, and examples โ€” is published for general educational purposes. It is not electricity costs advice and is not a substitute for a qualified professional. We are not your utility bill's actual ratess, and no client or advisory relationship is created by your use of this Site.

Utility bills layer delivery charges, taxes, and tiered rates on top of headline generation prices โ€” compute your true per-kWh rate (bill total รท kWh used) for honest numbers, which typically runs 30% above the advertised rate.

Appliance wattages vary by model and mode (a fridge cycles; a laptop scales with load). The calculator treats watts as average draw โ€” nameplate wattage overestimates cycling appliances, and typical-use figures are in the guides.

Accuracy of calculations

We implement well-known, publicly documented formulas (see the methodology section on each calculator page and typical appliance wattage data and utility billing practice as applicable). Even correctly implemented formulas produce estimates that depend on your inputs and assumptions. Real-world outcomes vary. Do not rely on a single web tool for a consequential decision.

Advertising disclosure
